Clackamas County Heritage Council

Clackamas County Heritage CouncilThe Clackamas County Heritage Council is a coalition of countywide heritage sites, organizations, advocates and suppliers, striving to work together for the betterment of all our collective heritage resources. It is a group comprised of representatives and advocates from museums, heritage sites, historic cemeteries, historic review boards, agencies and organizations within Clackamas County. We initially came together to search for a stable source of countywide funding for heritage sites . . . we are still searching! But in the interim, we have discovered that there is comfort in networking with others who share a passion for the region’s history and face the same challenges in their heritage-related ventures . . . and there is strength in numbers.

Members range from large sites with paid staff to small associations with a handful of devoted members; some are non-profit organizations while others are county and city agencies with a vested interest in local heritage. Heritage-related businesses, privately owned sites and dedicated individual advocates of history, heritage and genealogy are also members. Members of historic review boards and historic cemetery associations within the county are invited to participate and equally important to the collective protection of our past. By sharing in this information network and working together for the well-being of all, we can be better prepared and organized to react, assist and support preservation issues countywide.
